I was glad to see this English guy getting some great coverage, including a piece on the UK page of the BBC online news for his forthcoming trip to China...

Check it out...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/3523587.stm

I would certainly like to see increased media coverage of bicycle touring for advocacy purposes and to encourage the rest of the population to think about the benefits of travelling by bike.

Regards,

Jules

Hi,
I personally don't like the practice of using charity for media coverage. I think many of these guys are just hypocritical and pocket some of the charity money themselves.

Better I found, when two girls on their world bicycle tour got sponsered by the local radio station and they made calls over the telephone regularly and the radio listeners could hear their story and even ask questions. Work for pay or write a book about the adventure is ok too. Using charity is shameless, unless you are someone like Lance Armstrong, who is credible, having had cancer himself. Otherwise it is a scam in my opinion.

yours truely,
Bernd & Barbie (happy trails..!)
