Travel Warning for Sahara Region - 04/02/03 01:27 AM

Hello fellow travelers,
There has already been a warning posted in the German forum, and I felt that English readers should also be informed of the current situation in the Sahara. At the moment there are 17 travelers confirmed missing in the region, starting in February of this year. So far this has only happened in Algeria, but there is also danger in Mauretania, Mali, Niger, Libya and Tunesia. My information comes from www.sahara-club.de . Please pass this information on to anyone you know who has expressed interest in traveling through this region.

Hey guys,

The current number of people missing in Algeria is unfortunately 29 according to Chris Scott's www.sahara-overland.com website. Chris' site, which is primarily dedicated to motor vehicles crossing the Sahara also has a lot of uptodate info on travel across the Sahara and in the region in general and in relation to missing tourists there is an active forum and money can also be placed to fund the search for the tourists.

Best Wishes,

Jules
