Hi, I was in N. Thailand March 2005 touring with a company www.spiceroads.com, I cant remember specific village names but in general, North Thailand is a great place for cycling, very freindly peolpe and excellent food. We went from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai ( you can check the route on the site ) . The golden traingls is worth visiting and we cycled along the burmese border with very good scenery. March was very hot and dry but we did not care as the scenery, routes and company was amazing. Lots of inexpensive places to eat and stay , even in Bangkok, you can get a decent 4-star hotel for $ 45 , in Chiang Mai, we stayed in chiang mai plaza - v.good as well. mekong river in a boat is worth it - I am terrible when it comes to village names sorry... helmet or not, cycling shorts - mostly you can do waht you like! Enjoy - Saad
