Hi Mohammad!

I just came back from a 3-weeks Oman trip. Absolutely safe, no problems at all, friendly people, no stone-throwing kids.

Yemen could be difficult. In Dubai I met a swedish cyclist, who got escorted out of Yemen in January, because European tourists have been killed by some rebels in early January. So don't rely on being welcomed as a touring cyclist.

Yours

Bernhard

Hi Mohammad!

I flew from Germany to Dubai und did a 3-weeks round trip through Oman from there. The bike was my only means of transportion and it was a great trip. Traffic in Dubai is bad, though. Try to get out of there as quickly as possible, unless you need to get you some urgent supplies or spare parts. Oman is a great cycling location.

I even could have given you my Lonely Planet you asked for, which I got from the Swedish guy, but sending it from here costs probably as much as a new one, which should be available in Dubai.

Enjoy

Bernhard

Hi, I know it's too late for Mohammad, but maybe interesting for others:
Oman is a very pleasant country, very safe, friendly people, excellent food, safe potable water , even no problems for women in bike shorts.
Bring a small tent, because there are no hotels off the beaten track.
Camping is everywhere possible and safe.
The good news for roadbikers is, that almost all roads are currently being paved, which is bad news for mountainbikers, because in a few years there will be no dirt roads left.
Temperatures in March were quite high. 34° C at 9.30 am in Muscat, well over 40° in the interior parts of the country.
Unfortunately the sea almost everywhere was full of jellyfish.
